Our suppliers mission.."to strengthen the global economic competitiveness of artisanal communities and bring transparency and equity to the global supply chain"

Core values we share with our suppliers

Artisanal

Produced by artisans, either completely by hand, or with the help of hand tools or even mechanical means as long as the direct manual contribution of the artisan remains the most substantial component of the finished product.

Eco Friendly

Generally defined as a product that, from raw material extraction and processing to use and end-of-life disposal, lessens its impact on the environment as thoroughly as possible.

Recycled

Send less to landfill and close the loop. Discourage wasteful and inefficient processing. Reduce Environmental impact wherever possible. Recognise commercial and environmental drivers.

Organic

Grown under a system of agriculture without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides with an environmentally and socially responsible approach.

Fair & Social

A trading partnership based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. Our definition is a bit broader encompassing all fair trade and cause-driven organizations e.g. refugee owned entities, factories that employ only the disabled etc.

Sustainable

Development and operating practices that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, supporting ecological, human, and economic health and vitality.

"Oftentimes the process is more beautiful than the design itself"
Our cushions and textiles are a celebration of indigenous crafts, a harmonious blend of culture, history and artistry. Our suppliers also pride themselves on quality and with this comes regular, meticulous reviews and inspections from in-house quality teams all the way through the creation process.

Handmade

All of our textiles are handmade such is the nature of artisanal products. There are many skills necessary in making these items some of these methods are :
  • Handweaving
  • Handcutting
  • Hand knotting
  • Blockprinting
  • Embroidery
  • Hand tufting
  • Applique
  • Hand dyeing

Handweaving

is a strenuous process that requires perfect rhythm and coordination. Contributing to 95% of the world's handwoven fabrics, hand operated looms are an integral part of the Indian culture. Handweaving in India is over 2000 years old! The craft has stayed true to its roots even in the face of severe competition from power looms. Indian handwoven fabrics are appreciated for their richness and fine quality. This supplier believes in equal opportunities and provides a safe working environment for its artisans, along with healthy working conditions. Every offering is made from natural fibers, revealing products that are earthy and eco-friendly at the same time.

Embroidery

The beautiful embroidered detail on our cushion covers is the outcome of careful needlework done by hand. While embroidery may seem like a hobby for many, for the rural women of Rajasthan, it is an integral part of their everyday life and often also their bread and butter. It is a skill lovingly passed down from a mother to her daughter.

 Hand knotting

A popular technique that renders beautiful bohemian creations, macramé is characterized by knots made by hand without the use of any machines or tools. While the knotting technique dates back to the 13th century, in modern history, macrame is an art form believed to have come from Arabic countries. As these textiles were distributed throughout Europe, more people began to experiment with knotting as a pastime. Today macrame is practiced around the world. The use of knots of varying sizes and styles lend its offerings a unique flavor. Our supplier actively promotes women artisans, helping them gain financial freedom and independence. These gifted artisans perfectly balance work with their domestic responsibilities. They usually work from the comfort of their homes, doing what they do best - creating items of beauty.
